COMMUNITY GOVERNANCE REVIEW – SLDC
South Lakeland District Council undertook a Community Governance Review (CGR) of the whole of the District and residents were notified of the review in the Parish newsletter in April 2019.
Final recommendations have been made by the CGR, subject to approval by full council on 23 July 2019, to recommend that in order to ensure effective and convenient community governance, the number of councillors on Lower Allithwaite Parish Council will be reduced from fifteen to eleven. The review has proposed that the parish consists of two wards - Allithwaite and Cartmel with Upper Holker, comprising of six and five parish councillors respectively. The review stated that this would give wider access to councillors for parishioners of Upper Holker and reflects the pattern of vacancies in recent elections.
SLDC are currently putting the proposals into an accessible format to be displayed on their website, you will be able to access them by visiting this link: https://www.southlakeland.gov.uk/voting-and-elections/electoral-reviews/community-governance-review-2018-to-2019/ and navigating to the final recommendations section.
